Wooden or plastic traps can be very effective at killing rats. When using it, be sure to use a larger trap as small mouse traps are unlikely to kill or retain the mouse.

2. Live traps

Live traps exploit the natural tendency of rodents to investigate and enter burrows, in these traps the mouse can enter but cannot exit. This is often achieved through a touch-activated winding mechanism. When the rodent enters the hole, the mechanism pushes it to the other side of the trap where it is captured. Once captured, the rodent must be humanely euthanized or released in a location where it will not re-enter the home or building or cause harm to others.
